Will I become a certified welder after participating in this Program?
A Certified Welder license is not available through this Program. This Program does not provide certification to any procedure or process however will simply help develop the skills and knowledge necessary to qualify for such certification. The Program is designed to fully prepare participants for qualifying to certain weld procedures and processes and thus have the capability required for full procedural qualification.
Although AESYS’ Educational Services Division Welder Training Program will help the participant in qualifying for ASME, API, AWS and MIL STD procedures, certification for any process and specific weld procedure is required to be provided by the employer of the welder seeking same. The employer is responsible to maintain such code compliance procedures and processes, and as the holder of the applicable certificate of authorization to the specific code process, is singularly responsible and required to certify welders to those specific procedures and processes.
As each participant’s needs can be quite different, in advance of the program schedule, our Instructors will help plan and develop a specific tailored curriculum. The hands-on application work station will be prepared with equipment and materials to satisfy the weld process and procedure which is being sought. |
| 2: |
Can I learn more than one process and procedure during the week?
Participants are encouraged to limit and concentrate on one process and procedure in order to get the most value from this comprehensive Program. However, if your experience and competency level is such that additional processes and procedures would not be overly challenging, please feel free let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate your request. |
| 3: |
How much of the Program is hands-on?
Approximately 12-14 hours of the WTP course curriculum is scheduled in a classroom environment. The remaining 16-18 hours is primarily hands-on application at a work station which is prepared with necessary and required equipment and materials. |
| 4: |
What do I need to bring with me?
Simply, a desire and motivation to learn and develop. All tools, course materials including manuals, handouts and applicable testing materials are provided.
All participants of AESYS’ WTP are required to wear closed toed, hard soled, non-canvas footwear, long cotton pants, heavy long sleeve cotton shirt and eye and hearing protection. Safety glasses and hearing protection is provided.
Experienced welders are required to bring their own personal protective equipment including full-face helmet, with a 2x4 #10 lens, weld jacket and gloves. Similarly, beginners and apprentices are also encouraged to do so, however should this be an initial introduction to the welding experience, availability of personal protective equipment, to a limited number of participants, is available.
Periodically, participants have inquired about bringing along their own personal, or company furnished, weld tools. Please feel free to do so, however, do advise us at time of registration that you intend to bring same.
Please be aware should you bring any personal items, tools or equipment, participants shall be solely responsible for same, and AESYS shall not bear responsibility for use, care and protection of any personal items while at AESYS premises.

Beginners and apprentices are encouraged to participate. There is no educational level, or technical experience, or additional requirements necessary.
If a true beginner, with this Program being the initial introduction to the welding experience, we recommend brief exposure to all processes including SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW. This learning experience would be considered a great first step towards determining your interests and ability, and thus help you decide whether a career path within the fabrication and construction industries is your calling.
Please be aware that Instructors, at their sole discretion, may limit a participant’s ability to fully participate, particularly during any hands-on applications. If, in the Instructors considered judgment, it is determined that a participant does not posses the knowledge and skill necessary to perform a specific task, the participant will be directed to not participate.
